Holland Tulip Festival

Day #1 Thursday, May 6th: 6:45 AM - Meet your escort at Peoria Charter Coach waiting room at the corner of NE Adams & Alexander Streets. 7:00 AM - Depart from PCC Waiting Room for Holland, Michigan home to the annual Holland Tulip Festival! Well enjoy Continental Breakfast* along the way as well as making rest and meal stops. Dont forget to set your watches ahead one hour to Eastern Time upon entering Michigan. 3:00 PM - We arrive in Holland at Veldheer Tulip Gardens, Wooden Shoe & Delft Factory for a tour*. Enjoy 30-acres of tulips at Hollands only tulip farm. Youll also be able to enjoy a "free" factory tour and a tour of the Delftware Factory the only one located within the United States. Theres also a magnificent gift shop here. (3 5:00 PM) While were at Veldheer, the driver will take the luggage to the hotel the AmericInn* in Saugatuck / Douglas and then return to pick us up to go to dinner. 5:30 PM - Buffet Dinner* is served at a local church. (5:30 6:30 PM) 6:30 PM - We depart for Central Wesleyan Auditorium where well enjoy The Coasters, Drifters & The Platters* perform. This outstanding event features three history making, record breaking, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Legends. Their hits throughout the 50s and 60s created a new realm of music lovers and a platform for Rock & Roll that still lives on today. (7:00 8:30 PM Showtime) 8:30 PM - Depart for the hotel for the evening. Day #2 Friday, May 7th: Continental Breakfast* is served at the hotel. 8:00 AM - This morning well meet our Step-on Guide* for a 3-hour tour* of Historical Holland, Michigan. Youll see the city parks, Hope College, a view of the windmill, tulip lanes, downtown Holland and much more. Youll pick up your guide at the Civic Center on West 8th Street at 8:00 a.m. 11:30 AM - After touring Holland, were off to Dutch Village* for an afternoon of exploring this amazing attraction. You can enjoy lunch on your own while here. Dutch Village is celebrating over 46 years of history. There is live entertainment throughout the village as well as Dutch Folk Dancing, Wooden Shoe Carving, Historical Museums, Documentary Movies and one of the largest selections of imported gifts in the state. (11:30 2:30 PM) 3:00 PM - We board our awaiting coach and depart for Windmill Island for a tour*. Wind your way through the historic camp filled with colonial merchants and re-enactors. Learn what Dutch trade items were sought after 200 years ago and shop for your own piece of the past to take home. (3:00 5:45 PM) 6:15 PM - This evening well enjoy the Lions Club BBQ Chicken Dinner*. The meal consists of _ BBQ Chicken, Coleslaw, Applesauce, Roll & Butter, Dessert & Beverage. 7:15 PM - Were off to the Central Wesleyan Auditorium again for STARHIP* starring Mickey Thomas. Mickey Thomas is known for his soaring voice, Mickey propelled Starship through its multi-decade, chart topping era. With his soulful and compelling vocals, Mickey has established himself as one of Rock musics most recognizable stars. (8:00 9:30 PM) 9:45 PM - Lets depart for our hotel for the night. Day #3 Saturday, May 8th: Continental Breakfast* is served at the hotel. 8:30 AM - We check out, board the coach and head back into Holland to the Quilt Show*. Here youll enjoy over 100 handmade quilts by local artisans. The quilt show is an annual favorite with new and antique quilts each year. You can even vote for your favorite ones. (9 9:45 AM) 9:45 AM - Next were off to the Holland Historical Museum for a tour*. 600 years of Art & History are located within these 4 walls. Youll see New Dutch Art Galleries with paintings, authentic costumes and decorative arts. The main floor exhibit is "Holland, MI from settlement to city". (10 11:00 AM) 11:00 AM - Our last stop will be in downtown Holland, where youll have time to grab a bite of lunch on your own, shop or browse the stores located here. Youll have about an hour and a half before you need to find your seats for the parade. 12:30 PM - Locate your reserved bleacher seats* for the parade. Youll see the Premier Bands perform until 12:45 and the Klompen Dance followed by the Muziekparade* at 2:00 PM. This is the "Grand Finale" of the festival! Nearly 40 bands and as many floats, giant helium parade balloons, horses, Dutch Dancers, and much more perform along a 2.4 mile rout to the delight of young and old alike. The parade lasts about 2 hours. 4:00 PM - After a great time enjoying the Tulips, were off towards home. Well make rest and meal stops as needed as we travel. Dont forget to set your watches back an hour upon entering Illinois and the Central Time Zone. 10:15 PM - Approximate return time to Peoria.
