Miami & Key West

Day #1 - Saturday, February 20th: 7:00 AM - Depart Peoria as we escape the cold winter winds and head southeast towards our destination - Miami + Key West, Florida. We'll enjoy Continental Breakfast* on board the coach as well as making necessary rest & meal stops. 4:30 PM - We arrive in Nashville at the Spring Hill Suites* in Nashville, TN for our overnight stop. Dinner is on your own tonight. For those who'd like to attend the Grand Ole Opry, please advise us when making your final payment so we can get seats reserved for those attending. This is an optional tour and will be added to the cost of your tour. The Opry starts at 7:00 p.m. so we'll need to arrive by 6:30 p.m. Day #2 - Sunday, February 21st: Continental Breakfast* is served at the hotel this morning. 7:30 AM - We check out, board the coach and depart for the 2nd leg of our journey towards Miami. We'll make rest & meal stops along the way as needed today. Note: Don't forget to set your watches ahead an hour as we enter the Eastern Time Zone today. 6:30 PM - Arriving in Valdosta, GA, we'll make a stop at the local Cracker Barrel for dinner*. 8:00 PM - Our home tonight will be the Comfort Suites* here in Valdosta. Day #3 - Monday, February 22nd: Continental Breakfast* is included here at the hotel this morning. 7:30 AM - Depart Valdosta for Miami! Again, we'll make rest & meal stops along the way as needed. 5:00 PM - We check into our hotel for the next 3nights - the Hilton Garden Inn Miami Airport*. Relax and freshen up before we depart for dinner at a local restaurant. 7:00 PM - Dinner* is served at a Spanish Restaurant on South Beach. Day #4 - Tuesday, February 23rd: Breakfast* is included here at the hotel. You can sleep in this morning or relax and read the paper after 3 long travel days to get here. 10:00 AM - We meet our Guide for a City Tour of Miami & Miami Beach*. Miami and Miami Beach, interchangeable in the minds of most tourists, in reality are vastly different. Miami is a larger and more diverse metropolis that caters to tourism but also supports light industry. Miami Beach, almost exclusively tourist-oriented, consists mostly of condos and hotels. In fact, squeezed into an area of only 7.5 cubic square miles, sandwiched between the Atlantic Ocean and Biscayne Bay, is a dazzling array of hotels that can accommodate three times the city's usual population. Our guide will give us the historical as well as the fiction side of these two cities. Noon - We'll make a stop for lunch (on your own) at Coco Walk. Coco Walk is a colorful, casual open-air shopping center that includes cafes and trendy nightspots. 2:00 PM - We continue our tour* of the Miami / Miami Beach area with our guide. 3:00 PM - We'll head back to our hotel for a little down time so you can relax, swim, whatever you choose. 7:00 PM - Dinner* is included this evening at a local Creole Restaurant. (to be determined) Day #5 - Wednesday, February 24th: Breakfast* is again included at the hotel this morning. 10:00 AM - We depart with our guide* for a little shopping and lunch (on your own) at Bayside Marketplace. Bayside Marketplace is a downtown shopping, dining and entertainment mecca on Biscayne Bay. Designed after the historic Faneuil Hall Marketplace in Boston, the waterfront arcade combines more than 100 specialty boutiques, street performers, restaurants & outdoor eateries. 2:00 PM - Afternoon has us boarding the Island Queen Cruises boat for a cruise on Biscayne Bay*. This 1 1/2 hour sightseeing cruise takes us along Biscayne Bay, the port, Fisher Island and Millionaire's Row, where million-dollar homes owned by celebrities are identified. You'll also enjoy views of the Miami skyline as you cruise. 4:30 PM - We depart for the hotel arriving around 5:00 p.m. so we can freshen up for dinner. 8:00 PM - Dinner* is included this evening at a local Brazilian Restaurant (to be determined) Day #6 -Thursday, February 25th: Breakfast* is included this morning before we checkout. 8:00 AM - We check out, board the coach and depart for the drive to Key West, FL. We'll make a break stop along the way. Noon - We arrive in Key West where we'll acquire your Trolley Tickets* to use as you explore Key West on your own today. The Trolley Tickets will allow you to get on/off the trolley in several different places. You can use it to get back to the hotel we're staying in tonight - the Fairfield Inn*. 7:00 PM - Tonight we'll enjoy an evening Sunset Dinner Cruise*. Relax and enjoy the famous Key West Sunset as you cruise and enjoy a delicious dinner. Day #7 - Friday, February 26th: Continental Breakfast* is served before we depart towards home. 8:00 AM - It's time to check out, board the coach and begin our journey towards home. We'll travel to Gainesville, FL today before stopping to overnight. Rest & meal stops will be taken along the way as needed. 5:30 PM - We arrive in Gainesville at the Fairfield Inn* where we'll overnight. Freshen up before we depart for dinner. 6:30 PM - Dinner* is included tonight at a local restaurant. Day #8 - Saturday, February 27th: Continental Breakfast* is served this morning. 7:00 AM - We depart for Chattanooga, TN, where we'll overnight. Weíll make rest & meal stops along the way as needed. 5:00 PM - We arrive in Chattanooga at the Comfort Inn & Suites* where we'll overnight. Dinner is on your own tonight. Day #9 - Sunday, February 28th: Our final Continental Breakfast* is served. 8:00 AM - It's time to make the final leg of our journey towards home. We'll make rest & meal stops along the way as needed. Don't forget to set your watches back an hour upon entering the Central Time Zone. 5:30 PM - Approximate arrival time back in Peoria.
