York, Pennsylvania! Departure: Tuesday, October 14, 2008 Other Multi-Day Tour - 6 Days / 5 Nights October 14 - 19, 2008 |

Day #1 - Tuesday, October 14th: 7:00 AM - Depart Peoria headed east towards Cambridge, Ohio where we'll overnight. This morning you'll enjoy a Continental Breakfast* aboard the coach as we travel. We'll also make rest and meal stops along the way. Don't forget to set your watches ahead an hour as we enter Indiana and the Eastern Time Zone. 6:00 PM - Arriving in Cambridge, we'll make a dinner stop (on your own) at Cracker Barrel just minutes from the hotel. 7:30 PM - Let's check in and relax for the remainder of the evening. Day #2 - Wednesday, October 15th: 7:00 AM - Continental Breakfast* is served at the hotel prior to departing for our destination - York, Pennsylvania! 8:00 AM - We check out, board the coach and depart for home making rest & meal stops along the way. 3:00 PM - Arriving in York, we check into our hotel for the next three nights - the Four Points Sheraton*. You'll have time to relax and freshen up before dinner. 4:30 PM - We re-board the coach and depart for a delicious dinner* at San Carlos Restaurant. San Carlos was originally one of the largest dairy barns in the York area and is now considered to be approximately 175 years old. In the late 1940's the barn was transformed into a restaurant. (5:00 P.M. Reservation) 6:15 PM - This evening we'll enjoy a theatre production with the nostalgia and original decor of the lavish 1920's and modern amenities, conveniences and technology at the Strand-Capitol Performing Arts Center*. Note: May be changed if there is not a show scheduled. Day #3 - Thursday, October 16th: Hot Breakfast* is served at the hotel this morning. Use your voucher and go at your leisure. 7:45 AM - Our day begins with a tour of Harley Davidson Motor Vehicle Operations*. This tour offers you a "behind-the-scenes" look at the making of a legend. See first hand how these legendary machines come to life through a look at the manufacturing and assembly processes. (Tour begins promptly at 8:30 a.m.) Note: You MUST wear closed toed & heel shoes. You will be required to pass through a metal detector and cameras are not permitted in the factory. 10:30 AM - Next we're off to tour* Snyders of Hanover - America's Pretzel Bakery since 1909. Your senses will be on overload while the guide offers a glimpse of how tradition, technology and teamwork combine to make great tasting pretzels. (11:00 - Noon Tour) Noon - Next we're off to enjoy lunch (on your own) at Eat 'n Park. 1:30 PM - Our afternoon begins with a tour* of the Agricultural & Industrial Museum! Locomotives, automobiles, farm equipment, large & small industrial machinery, and even an airplane recreate this golden era in history. The operational 1829 Grist Mill and 1904 ammonia compressor will leave a lasting impression on your visit. (2 - 4:00 PM) 4:00 PM - We'll depart for the hotel where you'll have time to freshen up before our evening dinner show. 5:15 PM - We're off to Lancaster and the Dutch Apple Dinner Theatre. The city lights, the humming traffic, the bustling crowds - there's nothing like your first trip to New York City. Experience that rush all over again! It's a delightful tale of two sisters, Ruth, a would-be writer and Eileen, a dewy-eyed bombshell. They're fresh off the bus from Ohio, ready to follow their dreams, fall in love and live happily ever after in New York City. With a dazzling score by Leonard Bernstein, the show is full of misadventures and happy endings. This Wonderful Town* makes for a wonderful time. (6:00 Buffet, Show begins @ 8:00 P.M.) Day #4 - Friday, October 17th: Hot Breakfast* is served this morning at the hotel prior to another full day of exploring this area. 9:30 AM - Experience the sweetest tour* of this trip at the Wolfgang Candy Company. Recently voted one of the "Top 5 Tasty Tours" in the nation by the Food Network, a tour of Wolfgang Candy allows you to see, smell and taste your favorite candy cooking, mixing and coating. The young & young-at-heart will love to see chocolate enrobing peanut butter, almond butter crunch mint creams and many more delicious candies. Of course, a stop at the Gift Shop to purchase is mandatory. Note: Hairnets are required and provided. No jewelry is permitted. Cameras are permitted during parts of this tour. 11:45 AM - We're off to The Brown Cow at Hope Acres for lunch & tour*. Enjoy a tour* of Hope Acres, one of only 10 fully robotic dairy operations in the U.S. The Hope Acres tour is fun & educational for all ages. See the latest innovations in milking technology. While touring the fully robotic milking facility, you'll see how their cows are "pampered" with waterbeds & back scratchers. The tour concludes with a free scoop of Hope Acres ice cream. (11:45 - 2:00 P.M.) 2:30 PM - This afternoon you'll experience the ultimate tour* of one of York County's premier wineries - Naylor's Winery*. After an overview of the beautiful vineyards, enter the cool cellars where the wines are aging to perfection as you follow the grape route through its involvement in some of America's greatest wines. A taste of several wines will being you back to Naylor wine cellars again & again. (2 - 3:45 PM tour) 4:00 PM - Next we'll make a stop at The Markets at Shrewsbury where you can stroll through the farmer's market and discover fresh made pretzels, local produce, poultry, quality meats, fine wines and a huge selection of bulk food items. Admire the skilled workmanship as you leisurely roam the Amish Market offering Amish-made handcrafted furniture and thousands of crafts, exquisite quilts, floral wreaths, children's furniture & more. (4 - 5:30 P.M.) 5:30 PM - It's time to board the coach for the short drive to Lancaster - home to the Sight & Sound Theatre. Tonight you'll enjoy a magnificent performance of "In the Beginning"*. In a spectacular staging of the biblical account of creation, Sight & Sound opens the original productions, "In the Beginning". Be there as the Garden of Eden appears before you - the waters, vegetation, and animals of the newly created world enveloping the Millennium Theatre! Experience God's pleasure at his most awesome creation, Adam & Eve, and the complete beauty of their unbroken relationship with God. With special effects that surpass all you've previously seen, In the Beginning promises an experience beyond your imagination. Enhanced by magnificent staging, stirring musical compositions, and captivating live and animatronic animals, the stage will spring to life the phenomenal story of creation! (7:30 - 10:00 P.M.) Day #5 - Saturday, October 18th: Hot Breakfast* is enjoyed at the hotel prior to our departure towards home. 8:00 AM - What a great time we've had here in York, the Factory Capital of the World, but it's time to say "farewell" and begin our journey towards home. We'll make rest and meal stops en route to our overnight stop - Dublin, Ohio. 5:00 PM - Arriving in Dublin, we check into our hotel for the night and have a short amount of time to freshen up before departing for dinner at a local restaurant. 6:00 PM - Dinner* is served this evening at Mary Kelley's Restaurant & Pub. Settle back in an ambience of high, wood-beamed ceilings, etched glass, chandeliers and private booths. A massive fieldstone fireplace separates the main dining room from the rollicking Boarshead Pub. Irish? Well, heck yes. This is Dublin after all. (Dinner served at 6:00 P.M. in a private room) We've also hired a couple young ladies to perform the famous "Irish Dance" for you and we also have a "Fiddler" coming in with some friends to entertain you this evening. 8:00 PM - Approximate return time to the hotel for the evening. Day #6 - Sunday, October 19th: Continental Breakfast* is served at the hotel. 7:30 AM - We're off for the final leg of our journey home. Relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery along the way. We'll make rest & meal stops along the way. Don't forget to set your watches back an hour as we re-enter Illinois and the Central Time Zone. 1:00 PM - Approximate arrival time back in Peoria.
