Day #1-Monday, June 9th: 7:00 AM - Approximate Peoria departure time from the PCC waiting room. A Continental Breakfast* will be served on the coach. We'll make break and meals along the way. Don't forget to change your watches to Eastern Time as we enter Indiana. 5:30 PM - We find ourselves in Mansfield, Ohio where we will check into our hotel*, the Holiday Inn. We have just a short time to freshen up before departing for Dinner* at the Malabar Inn. Day #2-Tuesday, June 10th: A Breakfast Voucher* is included for breakfast this morning here at the hotel. 8:30 AM - Check out and board the coach for the short drive to Carousel Magic*, one of the most skilled companies still building new wooden carousels today. This family owned business custom designs and hand carves unique carousel horses and menagerie figures. 10:15 AM - Now we find ourselves at the Ohio State Reformatory*, one of the biggest castle-like structures in the United States. Four major motion pictures have been filmed here - Tango & Cash, Harry & Walter Go To New York, Shawshank Redemption and Air Force One. 11:30 AM - Board our coach and continue our journey eastward. We will make a lunch stop (on our own) along the way. 4:00 PM - We have arrived at the Chautauqua Institution in Chautauqua, New York. We will tour* the Chautauqua Historic Museum and then check into the historic Victorian Athenaeum Hotel. The Institution, originally the Chautauqua Lake Sunday School Assembly, was founded in 1874 as an educational experiment in out-of-school, vacation learning. Today, it is renowned as a center for the performing arts and a resource for the discussion of the important issues of our time. We are sure to enjoy the beautiful grounds and quaint cottages that are occupied during the nine-week season. Dinner* is included here at the hotel tonight. Day #3-Wednesday, June 11th: Enjoy a full Breakfast* this morning at the hotel. 8:30 AM - Check out and continue our travels driving through the beautiful New York countryside. 11:00 AM - Upon arrival in Corning, New York, we will have time in the Gaffer District for lunch on our own and shopping. 1:30 PM - Depart for the Corning Museum of Glass where we will discover the best collection of glass art and history in the world; 35-years of glass making history, including an ancient glass portrait of an Egyptian pharaoh, Tiffany stained glass windows, contemporary sculpture - even a glass slipper! 4:15 PM - Depart for Geneva, New York and the Fingerlakes for Dinner* at Belhurst, an 1800's stone castle located on Seneca Lake. 7:00 PM - Board our coach for our home for the next three nights, the Holiday Inn*, in Auburn, New York. Day #4-Thursday, June 12th: Enjoy Breakfast* here at the hotel. 8:30 AM - We depart the hotel with Mary, our step-on-guide*. Today we will loop around Cayuga Lake, the longest of the Finger Lakes. 9:00 AM - Our first stop will be at McKenzie Childs*, a tranquil Victorian farm overlooking Cayuga Lake that produces the world-renowned majolica tableware, home furnishings and more. This 65-acre farm includes the production studio, a restored Victorian farmhouse, a duck pond, the gothic revival Chicken Palace aviary and a meadow where a herd of Scottish Highland cattle graze. 11:30 AM - Lunch* today is at the Aurora Inn. Enjoy lunch in their Lakeside Room with spectacular views of Cayuga Lake. This is a great photo op! After lunch, we will continue around the lake viewing the Taughannock Falls and stopping at Goose Watch Winery* for wine tasting and shopping. 5:00 PM - We are back at the hotel where we can freshen up and relax before departing for Dinner* at the Springside Inn for a wonderful family-style meal. Day #5-Friday, June 13th: Enjoy Breakfast* here at the hotel. 9:00 AM - Depart again with Mary for another great day exploring the Fingerlakes area. After looping around Owasco Lake, we find ourselves at the Ward O'Hara Agricultural Museum* featuring farm and home implements of all kinds. 11:15 AM - We are in the quaint town of Skaneateles where we have time for lunch on our own and shopping. This is where the previous First Family, the Clintons, vacationed in 1998, 1999 and 2000. 1:30 PM - Depart for Willard Chapel*, the only complete and unaltered Tiffany chapel known to exist. 3:00 PM - Now we find ourselves at Seward House*, home of William H. Seward, Secretary of State to Presidents Lincoln & Johnson and leading figure in the purchase of Alaska. 5:30 PM - We are back in Skaneateles where we will board the Judge Ben Wiles for an evening Dinner Cruise* on Skaneateles Lake. Day #6-Saturday, June 14th: Enjoy a final Breakfast* here at the hotel. 8:00 AM - Check out and depart for Fremont, Ohio making break and meal stops along the way. 4:30 PM - We have arrived in Fremont at the Hampton Inn*. Freshen up before we depart for dinner. 6:00 PM - Dinner* this evening is at the Dillon House. Friends and neighbors of President and Mrs. Rutherford Hayes, Charles and Ann Dillon built their home in 1873. Tom Hoffert will play the piano* as we dine and we are free to tour the house on our own. Day #7-Sunday, June 15th: Enjoy a Continental Breakfast* at the hotel. 8:30 AM - Check out and depart for home making break and meal stops along the way. Don't forget to change your watches back to Central Time as we enter Illinois. 4:30 PM - Approximate arrival time home.
